The National Museum of the American Indian will host a virtual event on November 11, 2020, to mark the completion of the National Native American Veterans Memorial and acknowledge the service and sacrifice of Native veterans and their families. More information about this event is forthcoming, and we hope you will join us online for the occasion.
There were a number of factors that contributed to our decision not to host a dedication ceremony or veterans procession this November 2020, most importantly current health and safety guidelines. When it is safe to do so, the museum will reschedule both the dedication ceremony and the procession so we may honor Native veterans and their families. We will continue to share updates with you about the timing for these events.
If you would like to visit the memorial or museum prior to the rescheduling of the dedication ceremony and procession, please check our website for updates and be prepared to follow all Smithsonian health and safety guidelines. Please note that access to the memorial, when completed, or the museum is not guaranteed.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to celebrating the memorial's completion virtually in November 2020 and welcoming everyone to Washington, D.C. when it is safe to do so.
Please visit this page for regular updates on the memorial and dedication, and for logistical information related to dedication events.

As commissioned by Congress, the museum will establish a National Native American Veterans Memorial on its grounds in the heart of Washington, D.C. This memorial will honor American Indian, Alaska Native, and
Native Hawaiian veterans, and symbolize the country's respect for their service and patriotism. Native people have served in every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces since the American Revolution and
continue to do so.
We honor those who devote themselves to defending our nation, especially the exceptional military service performed by Native Americans.
This memorial carries the heavy responsibility of respectfully acknowledging these veterans, raising awareness of their service among generations, and reminding all Americans of our national obligation to honor this inspired legacy.
